Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you use michaelsfoodstore.co.uk.

Who we are

Michaels Food Store, 2 Dock Street, Carronshore, Falkirk FK2 8HG. Telephone 01324 881187. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

• Your name, delivery address, email address and phone number, so we can take and deliver your order.
• Your postcode, which we use to work out whether we deliver to you and what the delivery charge is.
• Your order history, and any delivery notes you leave us.
• Confirmation that your payment succeeded. We never see or store your card number — the card fields at checkout belong to our payment provider, not to us.
• If your order contains alcohol, tobacco or vapes, a record that you confirmed you are 18 or over.
• Basic technical information such as IP address and browser, through cookies.

Card payments and saved cards

Payments are processed by Worldpay. When you type your card details they go straight to Worldpay’s systems — they never pass through our website or our server, and we cannot see them.

If you choose to save your card for next time, Worldpay keeps the card and gives us only a token — a meaningless reference that lets us take a future payment you have authorised. That token is useless to anyone else and cannot be turned back into a card number. You can remove a saved card at any time from My Account → Payment methods, or by ringing the shop and asking us to remove it.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• To take and deliver your order, handle questions, substitutions and refunds — because we need it to perform our contract with you.
• To keep age-verification and sales records for alcohol, tobacco and vapes — because the law requires it of us.
• To keep accounting records — a legal obligation.
• To send you offers by email — only where you have asked us to, and you can stop it at any time.
• To keep the site working and secure — our legitimate interest in running a shop that functions.

Who we share it with

Only with the people who need it to fulfil your order: our payment provider (Worldpay), our delivery staff, and our website host. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Your information is held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. We do not make any decisions about you by automated means.

How long we keep it

Order and age-verification records are kept for six years to meet accounting, tax and licensing requirements. Marketing preferences are kept until you withdraw them. Saved card tokens are kept until you delete the card or close your account.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop using it for marketing, or object to how we use it. Email us at info@michaelsfoodstore.co.uk, ring the shop on 01324 881187, or use our contact form. We will deal with it within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep your basket working, to keep you signed in, and to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but the basket and checkout will not work properly without them.
